Ukraine has developed a verification procedure for the export of four agricultural crops in accordance with the European Commission’s decision. It is currently not exporting agricultural products to five neighbouring countries without their consent.
This was announced by Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi during a meeting of agriculture ministers from the Visegrad Group countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), reports ProAgro Group, citing information from the ministry.
“We are introducing an internal verification procedure for the export of four crops (maize, rapeseed, sunflower and wheat) to five EU countries. This procedure involves the Ukrainian Government issuing a licence within 30 days of receiving an export application. The relevant government resolution has already been adopted, and therefore exports to these five countries without their approval no longer take place. Within these 30 days, Ukraine informs the European Commission and the relevant country of the receipt of the export application,” emphasised Mykola Solskyi.
He stressed that the mechanism, whereby exports cannot take place without the consent of a neighbouring country, is as constructive and transparent as possible, and takes into account the interests of all parties. Mykola Solskyi also noted that Ukraine has sent proposals to neighbouring countries outlining how this mechanism will operate and is awaiting responses and possible solutions. To date, an official response has been received from Romania.
