A grain storage project is operating in the Lviv region, within which it is planned to save more than 100 thousand tons of grain from 200 farmers of the region, reports “ProAgro Group” with reference to the company’s information of the department of agro-industrial development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Yesterday, on November 2, grain filling was carried out in the Sambir region. Representatives of the USAID AGRO Program, authorities, and local farmers were invited to participate in the event.
The project is part of the AGRI_Ukraine initiative and is implemented with the support of the USAID Agricultural Advisory Service. In addition to the provision of capacities and equipment for storage, the project provides for monthly quality monitoring and the establishment of joint sales of grain.
Crop storage is a critical issue in Lviv and neighboring regions. Most producers do not have the funds to independently overcome this challenge, due to the increase in production costs (change in the price of fuel and lubricants, mineral fertilizers, plant protection products and the increase in the price of loans. Therefore, with the help of the project, work on the storage of self-grown grain of agrarians has been established in the region.
