On September 25, a meeting of AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB partners took place within the framework of the research and innovation program “Horizon Europe” Center of excellence for smart agriculture and circular bioeconomy on the way to a sustainable agri-food sector in countries that expand (and beyond).
The meeting focused on the tasks of WP2, in particular on discussing the current state of the biocircular economy and the agri-food sector. Key findings included the importance of combining technologies into thematic areas, such as biogas digestion, an anaerobic digestion (methane fermentation) process in which organic waste is decomposed by microorganisms in a sealed container without access to oxygen, producing biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide) and digestate (organic fertilizer or biochar). The artificial intelligence tool identified the main thematic areas and the possibilities of mobilizing their raw materials.
Special attention was paid to preliminary research results, discussion with partners of interim developments, as well as planning the next steps in the development of a long-term action plan in the field of research and innovation for Poland, Latvia and Ukraine. The speakers presented presentations with current data and analytics, which gave the participants an opportunity to evaluate intermediate results and form an agreed vision for further work.
The Lviv Agrarian Chamber is one of the key partners of the project, because it is through the chamber that financing for the development of innovative projects in the field of “smart agriculture and circular bioeconomy” in Ukraine will pass.
