On April 8, the Lviv Agrarian Chamber held a meeting with a Swedish delegation that visited our region as part of the project “Exchange of knowledge, challenges in the food supply chain from the point of view of sustainable development”.

The purpose of the visit is to establish partnership relations with Ukrainian colleagues for further cooperation.

Lviv Oblast and the Agrarian Chamber were visited by a delegation of representatives of the Administrative Council of the Dalarna District, in particular the Director of the Department for Sustainable Development Mikael Selander, the head of the Department of Rural Development Hokan Mowitz, the head of the Dalarna Competence Center Mikael Rocking and Senior Adviser on Rural Development and Agrarian Sector Stan-Rude Lundin. Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Lviv State Administration Ludmila Honcharenko joined the meeting.

The President of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, Pavlo Muzyka, briefly introduced the representatives of the Swedish side to the main areas of support for farmers provided by the organization.

The head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber Ihor Vuytsyk informed about the cooperation with the united territorial communities of the region through the institute of LAP commissioners and the activities of the advisory service of the Agrarian Chamber. He also focused his story on the successful implementation during 3 years of the project with the social non-profit cooperative “PAUSA CAFÉS.C.S.SOCIAL CO OPERATIVE” Italy, to which 220 SFGs joined. The discussion of the project “Protection of biodiversity of cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of borscht (Heracleum)”, which the chamber intends to implement in cooperation with EU partners, was quite active. Swedish colleagues have experience in building an integrated strategy to combat Sosnovsky’s borscht and are ready to share it with us.

The meeting discussed topical issues of rural development and support for farming in the conditions of European integration and prospects for Ukrainian-Swedish project cooperation.
