Since March, the requirements for the protection of farmland from fire have been tightened

March 23 2021

On March 17, the law entered into force stating that ensuring fire safety relies on:

– the owner of a land plot and other object of immovable property;

– lessees (lessees) of a land plot and other object of immovable property, if it is stipulated in the lease agreement;

– manager(s) of the business entity.

Changes are provided for by Law No. 1259-IX on strengthening the protection of forests, preventing fires on the lands of the forest and water fund, on peatlands and lands of other categories.

The obligation of land users is established:

– do not allow burning of dry vegetation or its remains in violation of the procedure established by the Ministry of Natural Resources;

– to mow (with cleaning of the mown) and felling of land plots adjacent to peatlands, field protection forest strips, meadows, pastures, areas with steppe, wetland and other natural vegetation, in the right-of-way of highways and railways.

Persons guilty of burning dry vegetation or its remains in violation of the procedure established by the Ministry of Natural Resources in coastal protection zones and on islands are responsible for violating water legislation.
