On October 21, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Concept of the state target program for the development of vegetable growing until 2025, which is aimed at developing the vegetable growing industry and providing the population with high-quality vegetable products.
Implementation of the State target program for the development of vegetable growing will allow until 2025:
– Increase the efficiency and competitiveness of vegetable growing by providing the entire population with high-quality, affordable products.
– Increase the share of enterprises engaged in the production of vegetables, including family farms and agricultural cooperatives, as well as create appropriate specialized clusters.
The Concept of the State target program for the development of industrial potato growing for the period until 2025 was also approved at the Government meeting.
Implementation of the State target program for the development of industrial potato cultivation will allow until 2025:
– To increase the volume of production of high-quality seed and food potatoes on industrial plots in agricultural enterprises, in particular in seed potatoes within 456 thousand tons and table potatoes and raw potatoes for processing within 1430 thousand tons.
– To improve the material and technical base of agricultural enterprises, which will ensure the promotion of potatoes grown in industrial enterprises to the organized trade market at stable prices.
– Increase the share of enterprises engaged in the production of potatoes, including family farms, agricultural cooperatives and specialized enterprises engaged in the production of organic products, as well as create appropriate specialized clusters.
The Government’s decision also approved the Procedure for certification of organic production and/or circulation of organic products. The decision introduces its own organic production certification system in Ukraine.
The adopted resolution approves the Procedure for certification of organic production and/or circulation of organic products, which is supposed to determine:
– requirements for certification of organic production and/or circulation of organic products;
– procedure for issuing a certificate, its duplicate and form.
On the same day, the Cabinet of Ministers reviewed and approved the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Irrigation and Drainage Strategy in Ukraine for the period until 2030.
The document was developed to implement the Government’s decision to approve the Irrigation and Drainage Strategy in Ukraine for the period up to 2030.
The main elements of the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Irrigation and Drainage Strategy for the period until 2030 are the adoption of legislative changes, which will provide for:
– the organization of associations of water users to whom it will be possible to transfer the management of hydrotechnical infrastructure;
– creation of a national operator of irrigation systems as a business entity for effective infrastructure management and attracting credit and other funds;
– modernization of existing systems and construction of new ones;
– renaturalization of lands that currently need restoration due to climate change and may be returned to a certain ecologically good potential.
