On May 4, 2026, the Lviv Agrarian Chamber handed over agricultural machinery and equipment: tractors, plows and mowers to Staro Sambir and Khyriv communities. The transfer of equipment took place within the framework of the international technical assistance project “Protection of biodiversity of the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of borscht (Heracleum) ZeroHeracleum”, which is aimed at improving the ability of communities to fight the spread of a dangerous invasive plant – borscht Sosnovsky.

The obtained technique gives communities practical tools for mechanical destruction of hogweed, timely processing of large affected areas and systematic control of the situation with the spread of hogweed throughout the territory of communities. This approach makes it possible to quickly return to use the affected areas, increase their productivity and restore the natural ecological balance.
The heads of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber – Pavlo Muzyka and Ihor Vuytsyk, as well as office workers – Anna Kushchak, Maria Kovalko and David Kravchenko took part in the event.
The Lviv Regional Military Administration was represented by Lyudmila Honcharenko, Director of the LOVA Agricultural Development Department.
Also, a delegation of the Ukrainian agricultural machinery manufacturer Agro Kar Ukraine LLC, which manufactures SPIKE brand tractors purchased within the scope of the project, arrived at the event. The delegation includes Andrii Tepliuk, co-owner of the company, Dmytro Hayduk, head of the service department, and Oleksandr Dubin, product manager of the SPIKE line. Representatives of “Agro Car Ukraine” LLC talked about the company’s capabilities, product range, discount programs for customers and the possibilities of servicing the received equipment.
“By the end of May this year, all 9 target communities will be fully equipped with machinery and equipment for the effective destruction of borscht. Next, the active phase will begin –continuous mowing of young plants, plowing with root pruning, and spot spraying with tank mixtures of herbicides in the phase of active growth of young shoots of this invasive plant. This method will make it possible to influence the growth of individual plants as precisely as possible, minimizing the contact of chemicals with other crops and the environment. We will get the first results this autumn.

It should be noted that the ZeroHeracleum project “Protection of biodiversity of cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of borscht (Heracleum)” is structural. It combines the solution of urgent problems in the field of environmental safety, restoration of natural biodiversity, practical use of land and strengthening of the material capacity of territorial communities in the Carpathian region,” emphasized Ihor Vuytsyk, head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber.
