Support for organisations and care for people

July 26 2024

On 25 July, Anna Kushchak, the regional coordinator of the Institutional Catering Programme, visited the Pustomyty District Hospital, a state-owned enterprise that joined the Programme in February 2024, as part of a monitoring mission.

During the visit, Anna Kushchak held a working meeting with the hospital management, inspected the storage facilities where food is kept, and the kitchen premises.

Chief Physician Ivan Labay spoke about the positive impact of participating in the Institutional Food Programme. “The Lviv Agrarian Chamber, with the support of the UN World Food Programme, is implementing a very good and necessary project. Over the past six months, since the hospital has been receiving food supplies, we have seen tangible results in terms of budget savings. According to our calculations, the savings amount to approximately 146,000 UAH. We plan to spend these funds on purchasing computer equipment,” said Ivan Labay.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Andriana Shykula presented today’s menu, which included dishes made from buckwheat, oats and flour, namely meat-filled dumplings, buckwheat porridge, porridge with milk and pancakes. Ms Andriana highlighted the high quality of the products, their freshness and good taste, as well as their regular and consistent supply.

“Thanks to our participation in the Institutional Catering Programme, we have expanded our range of dishes and improved the quality of our patients’ meals. There are still a few days left until the end of the month, but we are already running out of buckwheat, peas and sugar. However, the Lviv Agrarian Chamber is a reliable partner, and we know that we will definitely receive the next batch of food in August,” said Andriana Shykula.  “We are deeply grateful to and hold in high esteem the benefactors who provide such substantial and selfless assistance to institutions caring for people in difficult life situations.”
