Standards for maximum permissible concentrations of hazardous substances in soils, as well as their list, were approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Approval of Standards for Maximum Permissible Concentrations of Hazardous Substances in Soils, as well as a List of Such Substances” No. 1325 of December 15 at a Government meeting.
This decision sets standards for 39 hazardous substances, the excessive content of which leads to harmful effects on the environment, soil pollution and human health.
The approved changes empower the controlling bodies to exercise control in the field of land resources protection and compliance by economic entities with environmental regulations, as well as to bring violators to justice.
This document also forms the basis for:
• rational use, reproduction and protection of land resources;
• taking measures to prevent soil contamination by chemical and radioactive substances;
• compliance by economic entities with environmental standards in the field of land use and protection.
