On 20 April, representatives of the implementing partner of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), visited the Zhydachiv community on a humanitarian mission.
As part of the project, which covers 11 communities in the Lviv region, 207 families from the Zhydachiv community received vouchers worth 12,000 hryvnias each, which can be used in one of the retail chains to purchase work and gardening equipment, tools, protective gear, power and hand tools, agricultural goods and electrical appliances for agricultural work, and other items. This support is provided to households affected by the war who have access to land for agricultural activities, which will assist in cultivating the land to provide families with food during these difficult times of martial law. The vouchers were distributed to internally displaced persons, families hosting IDPs and belonging to vulnerable groups, families who have lost their breadwinner, and low-income households. This assistance was provided by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, and is funded by the French government. The aim of the project is to improve food security in communities.
The leadership of the Zhydachiv City Council expressed their gratitude for the assistance and support in implementing this important humanitarian project to the Head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, Ihor Vuytsyk, the Deputy Head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, Hanna Kushchak, and the representative of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, Maria Kovalko.
In his speech prior to the presentation of the voucher certificates, Ihor Vuytsyk, Chairman of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, thanked the leadership of the Zhydachiv City Council, the Economic Development and Investment Department of the Zhydachiv City Council – Department Head Lesia Shumelda and Senior Specialist Svitlana Senyura, and the heads of the community’s administrative districts for their preparatory work in implementing this humanitarian project, and expressed his hope for further cooperation in carrying out its objectives.
