On 24 October 2024, Ihor Vuytsyk, Head of the Lviv Agricultural Chamber, visited the Truskavets City Hospital, a public healthcare institution which receives food supplies throughout the year as part of the Institutional Food Programme, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme.
The purpose of this visit was to assess the effectiveness of the Programme and the conditions for providing food to people in need. Ihor Vuytsyk had the opportunity to see how the food is stored, how the cooking process takes place, and to verify the existence of feedback between the providers and recipients of such aid.
During a meeting with Deputy Director Ivan Gerlovsky, warehouse manager Hanna Zankiv and head chef Lesya Pavelkevych, they discussed the effectiveness of the institutional food programme. Ivan Gerlovsky noted that such aid is extremely important during wartime, when the needs of institutions are growing due to a significant increase in the region’s population caused by internally displaced persons.
“Thanks to the Programme, we have a good opportunity to use the savings for other pressing needs. This is one of the important aspects of the Programme. Equally important is the quality of the products and the stability and regularity of supply. Perhaps it would be worth slightly adjusting the composition of the food basket by replacing flour with cereals, but overall the Programme is effective and timely,” added Ivan Gerlovsky.
Hospital representatives also expressed their sincere gratitude for the food supplies, which help to provide patients with high-quality, vitamin-enriched meals.

The visit to Truskavets City Hospital demonstrated just how important it is to coordinate efforts between suppliers and recipients of aid. The Lviv Agrarian Chamber plans to continue its cooperation with the UN World Food Programme and to increase support for institutional catering for other institutions caring for IDPs and socially vulnerable groups.
