The ZSEN network in Ukraine runs training courses for partner organisations.

November 29 2024

On 26–27 November 2024, a two-day training workshop was held in Lviv, organised by the PSE Network in Ukraine for network staff and representatives of partner organisations from across Ukraine.

The aim of the event was to train those responsible for protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to provide appropriate support to victims of SEA and to raise public awareness.

The keynote speaker was Sofia Kanovas Pereda, Senior Adviser to the Head of the UN Office in Ukraine and Senior Inter-Agency Coordinator for SEAP. Other speakers included Alina Kasilova, psychological support coordinator at the NGO ‘Divchata’, and other protection specialists.

The Lviv Agrarian Chamber, as an implementing partner of the UN World Food Programme, was represented at the training by Monitoring and Protection Officer Davyd Kravchenko.

During the training, participants studied terminology related to protection against sexual exploitation and abuse and familiarised themselves with the structure of the UNSAC in Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to analysing tools for community outreach and identifying effective feedback mechanisms.

The practical part of the event included role-play exercises and tasks, during which participants were able to experience the roles of both a victim and a support worker. This enabled them to better understand both sides of the process and practise their communication skills.

As a result, the training participants gained new knowledge that will enable them to better fulfil their duties regarding protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), as well as to share this knowledge by conducting PSEA training for staff within their organisations.
