On 24 September, Ihor Vuytsyk, Head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, together with Richard Reagan, Director of the UN World Food Programme in Ukraine, the Director of the Lviv Regional Office of the WFP in Ukraine, Hélène Kramer, and the Institutional Food Programme team, visited one of the largest shelters in Western Ukraine in the Sykhiv district of Lviv, where over 900 IDPs fleeing the war live and are fed in a compact area. Most people have been living here for over 2.5 years. Charities continue to provide them with free meals, and the city does not charge for accommodation or utilities.

During a meeting with residents of the modular housing complex, Richard Reagan explained that his country had also endured the horrors of the Vietnam War. “It is a great honour for me to be here with you. Ukraine is an incredibly beautiful country with wonderful people, and although it is going through incredibly difficult times, I am glad to be here and support you,” emphasised Richard Reagan, Director of the UN WFP in Ukraine.
