On 9 August, the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, as part of the Institutional Food Programme of the UN World Food Programme, held an educational event for internally displaced persons who have found shelter at the Pilgrim’s House in the village of Stradch, Yavoriv District.
The training session, entitled ‘Mechanisms for reporting to aid recipients’, was led by speakers Ihor Vuytsyk and Davyd Kravchenko. The aim of the training was to involve aid recipients in programme decisions to make food aid more effective. Participants learnt how the Institutional Food Programme works, the mechanisms for distributing aid, who is eligible for such aid, and how to provide feedback on the Programme to its implementers.
Ihor Vuytsyk, Head of the Chamber, briefed those present on the activities of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, which directly delivers food to all participants in the Institutional Food Programme, and spoke about the priorities of the UN World Food Programme regarding support and assistance for those in need.
Monitoring and Protection Officer Davyd Kravchenko emphasised that the Institutional Food Programme is based on approaches tailored to the needs of vulnerable groups. As the Programme directly impacts the quality of life of people in need, it is important that they actively participate in decision-making, expressing their views and suggestions on the matter. The way to engage communities is by giving them the opportunity to provide feedback on the Programme, or to submit a complaint or suggestion. This feedback will influence the quality and effectiveness of the decisions taken.
Davyd Kravchenko also demonstrated to those present the feedback mechanisms with partners of the Institutional Food Programme, explained how to use them, and emphasised that feedback is extremely important for understanding the needs of affected people, the effectiveness of the Programme, and the implementation of new activities.
