The UN WFP institutional feeding program continues to operate in Lviv region, but this year a certain transformation of cooperation with institutions took place.
The main focus is on small institutions that care for internally displaced persons. One of these institutions was visited by the monitoring group of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber on January 23. This is a family-type orphanage of the Yurychko family, which is located in the village of Mirtyuki in the Stryi region. The Yurichko family is raising 11 adopted children aged 4 to 18: 6 girls and 5 boys. The oldest girl is already studying at one of the universities of Lviv, 9 children attend a local school.
Since the beginning of the war, the family moved from the city of Orihiv, Zaporizhia region, which is under occupation, to the city of Strya, and then settled in Mertyuky. A beautiful, large, modern house was provided to the family by the Stryi Territorial Community, and the Lviv Agrarian Chamber took charge of providing food.
Tetyana Yurychko, a mother and educator, told the story of the family’s relocation to Stryshchyna, shared the problems that arise in the process of adapting to a new place. “Thanks to the local authorities, we were able to settle in a wonderful house. Here, children have enough space for activities and recreation. We try to make our home cozy and friendly, provide children with everything they need. But, as you can see, the family is large, and its maintenance requires significant expenses. Therefore, the products we received from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber are a great help to our family, and we are grateful for such a generous gift,” Ms. Tetyana said. A family-type children’s home in the village of Myrtyuky became a real home for the Yurychko family from Orichov. The Lviv Agrarian Chamber, taking upon itself the provision of food products, demonstrates an effective approach to helping vulnerable population groups. The continuation of the UN WFP program in 2025 will be another important step in supporting such institutions and families in need of assistance.
