January 30 2026

On January 30, 2026, as part of the implementation of the project “Protection of biodiversity of the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of hogweed (Heracleum)”, an online meeting of the team of the main partner – the Lviv Agrarian Chamber – was held with representatives of the target territorial communities. Community heads, representatives of financial and land management services, heads of communal enterprises and elders took part in the meeting.

The Lviv Agrarian Chamber was represented at the meeting by: Ihor Vuytsyk – project manager, Anna Kushchak – communications manager and David Kravchenko – procurement manager.

Tetyana Borushok, deputy head of the department, took part in the meeting from the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Lviv Oblast, who noted that for the quality implementation of the project, communities must clearly fulfill all assignments. In particular, regarding the planning of funds for co-financing, since without the timely receipt of funds, the necessary equipment will not be purchased, which will lead to a delay in the implementation of practical tasks.

Participants of the meeting focused the main attention on the planning of works on the destruction of borscht. In particular, they discussed the task of preparing materials for mapping the territories of the distribution of the hogweed population, conducting training for staff on the practical use of the Mobil Giz mobile application and GPS – navigation.

Expert – adviser of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber Andriy Petryshyn told in detail about the practical tasks of communities regarding the preparation of materials for mapping.

An important focus of the meeting was the discussion of co-financing project costs.  The head of the project, Ihor Vuytsyk, emphasized that each community should provide in the budget for 2026 funds for co-financing expenses for the purchase of machinery and equipment, as well as expenses for reimbursement of costs for the completed works on the destruction of borschivka. Ihor Vuytsyk announced the planned amounts of funds for each target community.

The meeting also discussed the issue of state registration of purchased agricultural machinery, the procedure for its transfer to community utility companies, visualization of machinery and equipment purchased with project funds,

According to the results of the discussion, the deadlines for the completion of mapping and training tasks were established, and it was agreed on constant communication on work issues in a joint group created in the Viber mobile application.

“In connection with the onset of the active phase of the project, the communities should be actively involved in this process. It is important to work together and synchronously on the fulfillment of the assigned tasks, because only in this way we will be able to ensure the achievement of the set goal – to destroy the borschivna and prevent its further spread,” noted Ihor Vuytsyk.
