On 28 October 2024, an agreement on cooperation and scientific and practical consultancy was signed at the Lviv Agrarian Chamber between the Centre for Climate Management at Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Lviv Agrarian Chamber.
The agreement was signed by Myroslav Malovany, Head of the Centre for Climate Management, and Ihor Vuytsyk, Head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber.
The aim of this cooperation is to pool the efforts of civil society, educational, scientific and administrative resources for effective climate management and the prevention of climate change, particularly within the framework of the CLIMAN project.
Under the terms of the agreement, the parties have agreed on the main areas of work:
· Synergy of educational, scientific and civil society resources — pooling educational, scientific and practical resources to develop the field of climate management and raise public awareness of environmental issues and the consequences of climate change.
· Organisation of scientific research — conducting sectoral studies on risk assessment, vulnerability and climate change forecasting in the fields of water resource management, biodiversity conservation, forestry, agriculture and soil management, energy, transport and infrastructure, public health, tourism and recreation, in the field of climate management with the aim of raising awareness and developing new approaches to climate challenges.
· Provision of advisory services relating to the implementation of climate management at local, regional and national levels, as well as across all sectors of the national economy;
· Institutional capacity building — supporting the development of institutional capacity by partner universities, including international ones, to formulate recommendations for economic sectors, particularly industry, transport, energy, agriculture, tourism and local government.
This agreement is designed to facilitate effective adaptation to and mitigation of the effects of climate change, which is particularly important for Ukraine during the war and the post-war reconstruction period.
