The Lviv Agrarian Chamber has started the practical implementation of an important ecological project within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Program: “Protection of biodiversity of cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of borscht (Heracleum)”

The project involves 9 territorial communities of the Carpathian region, which will work together to eliminate a dangerous invasive plant – borage. This plant poses a threat not only to the ecosystem, but also to human health, because its juice can cause serious burns.

During this week, the team of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, consisting of: the head of the chamber Igor Vujtsyk, the chief accountant Maria Kovalko, the procurement manager David Kravchenko made working visits to the communities:

Starosambirska, Khirivska, Strilkivska, Turkivska, Borynska and Kozivska.

The result of these meetings was the transfer of equipment for individual protection of the personnel of communal services, which will be involved in the destruction of borschivna. The delivery of special equipment for effective control of invasive plants was discussed. The allocation of budget funds in the amount of 10% in accordance with the approved programs in each of the mentioned communities was agreed upon.

The importance of the project for the ecosystem and human health is extremely high. The implementation of this cross-border project will allow: to reduce the spread of invasive populations, to protect the biodiversity of the Carpathian region and to strengthen cross-border cooperation between the communities of Ukraine and Poland.

The Lviv Agrarian Chamber continues to coordinate work and provide communities with the necessary resources for the successful implementation of the project. Our next voyage is planned from December 22. on the turn of visiting Skhidnytska, Skolivska and Slavska communities.
