Lviv Agrarian Chamber continues implementation of the UN WFP Institutional Nutrition Program. In particular, in January of this year, 54 institutions in the Lviv region received more than 49 MT of food products for long-term storage. The shopping cart has not changed. As in the previous year, the institutions received flour, sugar, oil, oatmeal, buckwheat, peas and pasta.
After the completion of the monthly distribution, specialists of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber conduct monitoring visits to the institutions participating in the Program.

Yes, on January 22, head of the LAP Ihor Vujtsik, regional coordinator Anna Kushchak and monitoring officer Davyd Kravchenko visited institutions located in Stebnyk. The first institution visited by the members of the monitoring group was the Stebnytsk Gymnasium No. 11, which accommodated 60 internally displaced persons in part of its vacant premises. Unfortunately, the premises are in need of repair. The roof is leaking and on the upper floors in the rooms the ceiling is affected by fungus. The kitchen space is quite small, but the equipment for cooking is sufficient. Cook Fazle Bakshisheva is a migrant from Selidove, Donetsk region. She told her story about moving to Lviv Oblast with her family. Ms. Fazle now works as a cook and prepares food for all 60 people living in the shelter. During the visit of the monitoring mission, she prepared dough for pies.
“The products we receive from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber are a significant part of our menu. It would be very boring without them. In our shelter, 80 percent of the residents are low-income elderly people. This is a great help for them,” said Fazle Bakshisheva. Tetyana Isipchuk also moved with her family from the village of Ivanivka, Kharkiv region, to Stebnyk. She found a job in a gymnasium. Ms. Tetiana said that the premises that the gymnasium allocated for the shelter needed economic intervention. There are problems with the electricity supply, sanitary repairs are needed in the rooms and in the warehouse, rodents are bothering, because the floor on the first floor is of poor quality. The head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber Ihor Vuytsyk discussed the identified problems with the premises with the director of the gymnasium Volodymyr Chuchman, who promised to help the residents shelter them as much as possible eliminate. The members of the Stebnytsk City Hospital KNP monitoring group were pleasantly surprised. Nicely renovated bright premises, pleasant and courteous staff. And repairs continue in utility premises. The director of the hospital, Nataliya Stetsyk, said that in 2024, thanks to humanitarian aid within the framework of the Institutional Nutrition Program, the hospital received almost 80,000 hryvnias worth of food. The saved funds were directed to the purchase of vegetables, which made it possible to diversify the diet for patients.
“Every month, the hospital serves from 130 to 150 patients, so products are very much needed. We want food for them to be nutritious and tasty, because this is also one of the factors that affects health. And also, if possible, it would be very appropriate if the grocery basket that we receive from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber changed from time to time. We really need rice, semolina, wheat and other cereals,” said Natalia Stetsyk. Storekeeper Oksana Yuristovska said that the hospital keeps a clear account of the received products and controls their use. There is practically no residue. Fresh pastries are constantly prepared from the flour. Ms. Oksana also demonstrated the documents for accounting for products and the warehouse where the products are stored. At the moment, 27 children and adults are engaged in the Saint Panteleimon Regional Complex Rehabilitation Center for Children and Persons with Disabilities. The center has very good rehabilitation equipment. Psychologists, rehabilitators and other medical personnel work with patients.
Patients eat 5 times a day. The food is balanced, there are several types of menus depending on the recommendations of doctors. Deputy director for the economic part Andriy Bryndzya said that the Center uses few products supplied as part of the Institutional Nutrition Program, as a special menu is created for the patients of the Center based on the recommendations of doctors. Few flour products, instead more vegetables, fruits, dairy and meat products. But still, these products are needed, so the Center’s administration will continue cooperation with the Lviv Agrarian Chamber within the framework of this Program. Members of the monitoring group inspected the canteen, food block and warehouse, as well as premises for rehabilitation activities and recreation halls. They also had the opportunity to talk with the parents of children who are currently undergoing rehabilitation. Maryana Dun and Oksana Kostyrko, whose children were just practicing in the gymnasium, shared their impressions of their stay at the Center. “The conditions are very good. Qualified staff. Feeding occurs 5 times a day. Children are given yogurts, fruits, and juices. We are very satisfied with the treatment at this facility, it gives good results,” said Ms. Maryana. We note that all the visited institutions to one degree or another need products provided under the Institutional Nutrition Program. Of course, the greatest need for products is in the shelter of Stebnytska Gymnasium No. 11, and in the future the Lviv Agrarian Chamber will pay more attention to the residents of this shelter in order to jointly find ways to solve their problems.
