Within the implementation of the ZeroHeracleum international project “Protection of biodiversity of the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of borscht (Heracleum)” PLUA.01.03-IP.01-0008/23, financed by the European Union within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Program, another monthly meeting was held on May 28 online meeting of project partners.
The meeting was conducted by the head of the main partner of the project, the head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber Ihor Vuytsyk. Representatives of all partner organizations from Ukraine and Poland took part in the event. One of the key issues of the meeting was the discussion of field work, data collection and their verification. It was noted that experts are actively conducting field surveys of territories and entering data into an interactive map in Ukraine. Representatives of Ukrainian communities also started work on the destruction of the Sosnovsky borschivnik, providing photo materials “before” and “after” the events, along with the geographical coordinates of the places where the work was carried out. The participants of the meeting discussed the next stages of work after the completion of data collection in Ukraine, possible additional stages of information verification and analysis, as well as coordination of similar activities of Polish partners.

Partners paid special attention to the preparation of educational videos within the project. The Ukrainian side has already started the preparatory stage of creating video materials, in connection with which the issue of coordination between partners, agreement on the general concept and style of the video, use of project and Program logos, titles, voice-over in Ukrainian and Polish, as well as provision of sign language translation was discussed. The partners also discussed the schedule for the preparation of the first draft versions of the video and the issue of their further distribution through YouTube and social networks.
As part of the question about current activities, each of the partners presented a brief overview of the implemented and planned activities, as well as shared the main challenges that arise during the implementation of the project. Special attention was paid to the coordination of further measures and ensuring effective cross-border cooperation.
The participants of the meeting were also presented with new opportunities for partners within the framework of the Interreg Program, in particular, information about the Fund for small projects on the Polish-Ukrainian border CrossEco. The goal of the initiative is the development of cross-border cooperation in the field of rational waste management, raising environmental awareness and implementing practical solutions that meet the standards of the European Union.
Monthly meetings of partners contribute to effective coordination of activities, exchange of experience and joint resolution of urgent issues of implementation of the ZeroHeracleum project, which aims to protect the biodiversity of the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from the spread of invasive species of borscht.
