Visiting social institutions in Lviv region

January 27 2025

In mid-January, the distribution of products to all participants of the Institutional Nutrition Program was completed, therefore the team of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber (LAP) is visiting institutions with a monitoring mission.

On January 27, LAP representatives visited two social institutions in the village of Novy Yarychiv, Lviv district. These are, in particular, the palliative department of the communal non-profit enterprise “Novoyarychiv District Hospital” and the Communal Institution “Novoyarychiv Home for the Elderly and Disabled”. Institutions are small. For example, 30 people, including 5 internally displaced persons, are staying in the palliative department of the hospital. And the home for the elderly cares for 24 people, of which 3 are IDPs. Both institutions are located next to each other, so their wards communicate with each other. The premises of the institutions – a former manor’s estate – are surrounded by a park, a large, well-organized territory is a place for their residents to relax and go for walks.

Deputy director of the medical institution, Roman Vytrykush, said that 27 hryvnias are allocated for feeding one patient per day. budgetary funds. This is very little, so the hospital is forced to turn to benefactors in order to provide patients with quality food.

“We have support from local farmers who provide the hospital with vegetable products, and cooperation with the Lviv Agrarian Chamber currently forms a basic set of products for our patients. Thanks to these products, we can prepare our own pastries and form a fairly diverse menu. Many thanks to the UN World Food Program, which provides invaluable assistance in such a difficult time of war to social institutions that take care of the most needy people who cannot provide for their basic needs on their own,” Mr. Roman said. alt=””>

The storekeeper of the hospital, Galina Tys, demonstrated to the participants of the monitoring group the conditions for storing products, documents for their accounting and use. It should be noted that the premises of the hospital and the utility premises are well renovated. Excellent conditions for storing products, modern equipment of the food block, well-kept territory – everything indicates that the administration of the medical institution cares for its patients and creates good conditions for their stay in the hospital.

Unfortunately, the living conditions of the wards in the Novoyarychiv Home for the Elderly and Disabled need significant improvement. There is hope that soon everything will change for the better in the institution, because at the time of the visit of the monitoring group, repair work is actively underway there. The doors in all rooms have already been changed and the bathroom and shower rooms have been installed. Next, sanitary repair of all rooms where the residents of the house are located is planned.

According to director Ihor Kulik, the renovation should be completed in two months. Not only the living rooms will be updated, but also the utility rooms – the warehouse, the kitchen and the dining room. Funds for these works are allocated by the village council.

” Our institution is financed from the communal budget, there are not enough funds for everything. Aid in the form of food products, which comes from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, enables us not only to improve the nutrition of the people staying with us, but also to find funds for other needs, thanks to savings on food. Currently, there are 3 inpatients in the institution, they need special care, especially in terms of sanitary and hygienic provision. Thanks to the Institutional Nutrition Program, we direct the freed funds to the purchase of sanitary and hygienic means. We are very grateful, this is a significant help for the institution. We hope for cooperation this year as well, because without these products it will be very difficult for us to provide a good diet for our wards”, – said Ihor Kulyk.
