The University of Life Sciences in Lublin is one of Poland\u2019s leading academic institutions specializing in agricultural, biological, veterinary, and environmental sciences. The University of Life Sciences in Lublin is one of the partners of the project “Protection of Biodiversity in the Border Areas of Ukraine and Poland Against Invasive Populations of Common Hogweed (Heracleum)” (PLUA.01.03-IP.01-0008\/23).
The University of Life Sciences in Lublin’s role is focused primarily on achieving the project’s main objectives: assessing the occurrence, genetic and biochemical diversity, and controlling and monitoring invasive populations of Sosnowsky’s Hogweed in the border areas of Poland and Ukraine.
The partner will be primarily responsible for the development of a digital map and mobile application for monitoring hogweed populations in Poland and the UA, elaborating methods of HS destruction based on their genetic diversity, evaluating hogweed elimination and regrowth control methods, an information campaign, a hogweed warning campaign for students and pupils, and organizing a conference summarizing the project. In addition, the partner will participate in the collection of information on the habitat, population size, and structure of hogweed for future research and further eradication activities and identification of seeds of grasses and legume for habitat restoration after hogweed eradication. <\/p>\n
