The total amount of grant funding secured for the region exceeds \u20ac15 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yesterday, 18 April, a meeting of the Monitoring Committee for the Interreg NEXT \u2018Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027\u2019 programme took place in Krosno (Republic of Poland). Participants selected the winning projects under the \u2018Environment\u2019 priority and approved funding for them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLviv Oblast will receive over \u20ac15 million in grant funding for the implementation of environmental projects. Among the regions in western Ukraine, Lviv Oblast will implement the most projects under the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Programme in the \u2018Environment\u2019 priority. 45% of the grant funds that our country will receive will go specifically to our region. \u201cThis involves 16 projects submitted by communities and institutions in our region together with partners,\u201d noted Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Five of the 16 projects under the \u2018Environment\u2019 priority will contribute to climate change adaptation and increase resilience to natural disasters and catastrophes. The aim of the other seven projects is to promote access to water and sustainable water resource management. Four are aimed at strengthening the protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was attended by Khrystyna Zamula, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, and Iryna Butynets, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Lviv Regional State Administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is significant that a large proportion of these projects are aimed at the reconstruction or construction of wastewater treatment and sewerage facilities, the funding of which has always been one of the most problematic areas for communities. This time, these works can be funded through grant money,\u201d noted Khrystyna Zamula. \u201cIt is clear that in the current conditions of full-scale war, neither the state nor the communities have the financial capacity to allocate funds for development or to significantly improve the lives of their residents. That is precisely why such EU programmes are so important to us. This is an opportunity to continue creating safe and modern conditions for residents, and to significantly improve the living standards of those who work every day and pay taxes into the state treasury.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased with the result, as we will be able to attract a significant sum to the Lviv region \u2013 more than 15 million euros. The \u2018Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027\u2019 programme covers six Ukrainian regions, and 45% of the grant funds allocated to them under the \u2018Environment\u2019 priority will go to our towns and villages,\u201d noted Iryna Butynets. \u201cThank you to the communities for their active participation in this competition and their initiative. We believe in the successful implementation of every project.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

List of winning projects:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1. The project \u2018Together for Safety in the Cross-Border Zone\u2019, involving the Brody City Council and the \u2018Euroregion-Carpathians Ukraine\u2019 Association of Local Authorities. The project involves the construction of the \u2018Stanislavchik\u2019 Modular Safety Centre in the town of Brody. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is over 500,000 euros.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. The project \u201cMonitoring the quality of raw water used for the production of drinking and recreational water for the presence of chemical and microbiological hazards, including pathogens of infectious diseases resulting from human activity\u201d, implemented by the State Institution Lviv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The project provides for the procurement of laboratory equipment and vehicles. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is over \u20ac1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. The project \u201cPrevention and mitigation of the effects of climate change through the procurement of vehicles and firefighting equipment for extinguishing forest fires\u201d, implemented by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast. The project involves the purchase of specialised emergency rescue vehicles and a power generator with a trailer, as well as training for rescue workers. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is nearly \u20ac700,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4. The project \u201cJoint initiatives to improve the safety of cross-border territories related to resilience to climate change \u2013 natural disasters and fires\u201d, implemented by the Peremyshliany territorial community. The project involves the purchase of three large and medium-capacity fire engines with full equipment. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is nearly \u20ac900,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5. The project \u2018Lelis-Skole: Construction of Technical Infrastructure and Procurement of Equipment for Disaster Relief\u2019, implemented by the Skole Territorial Community. The project involves the reconstruction of drinking water disinfection facilities in the town of Skole. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is nearly \u20ac1 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6. The project \u2018Improving the quality of the natural environment in the border zone in the municipality of Belzhets and the town council of Belz\u2019, implemented by the Belz territorial community. As part of the project, a sewerage network will be built in the Belz community. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is \u20ac1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. The project \u2018Cross-border development of the water supply and drainage system \u2013 Good Water Tychyn \u2013 Pustomyty\u2019, implemented by the municipal enterprise \u2018Pustomytyvodokanal\u2019. The project involves the reconstruction of the water supply network in the town of Pustomyty. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is almost \u20ac500,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

8. The project \u201cCross-border Roztochya \u2013 protection of the natural complex through improved wastewater management in the town of Tomasz\u00f3w Lubelski and the Solonka district\u201d, implemented by the Solonka territorial community. The project involves the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the Solonka territorial community. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is almost \u20ac1.5 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. The project \u201cImprovement of the cross-border nature conservation system in the Carpathians through the development of water supply and sewerage infrastructure \u2013 integration of the resort municipalities of Solina and Skhidnytsia in the fight for a clean environment\u201d, implemented by the Skhidnytsia territorial community. The project involves the reconstruction of the water supply network in the town of Skhidnytsia. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is almost \u20ac1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

10. <\/span><\/span>The project \u2018Improvement of the cross-border environmental protection system in the town of Garwolin and the municipality of Siedlce in Poland and in the town of Brody in Ukraine through the development of sewage infrastructure\u2019, implemented by the Brody Territorial Community and the AOMC \u2018Euroregion-Carpathians Ukraine\u2019. The project involves the reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities in the town of Brody. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is \u20ac1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

11. <\/span><\/span>The project \u2018Protection of the border river Bug through the expansion of the sanitation network in the border municipalities of Dolgobycz\u00f3w and Sokal\u2019, implemented by the Sokal Territorial Community. The project involves the reconstruction of a water supply pump to the wastewater treatment plant in the town of Sokal. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is over \u20ac1 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

12. <\/span><\/span>The project \u201cClean Water \u2013 Development of Sustainable Water Resource Management in the Cross-Border Area\u201d, implemented by the Rudky territorial community. The project involves the construction of a sewerage network in the town of Rudky. The grant amount for Lviv Oblast is over \u20ac500,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

13. <\/span><\/span>The project \u2018Clean Bug \u2013 joint activities of the Drohychyn and Dobrotvir municipalities to protect the biodiversity of the Bug Valley\u2019, implemented by the Dobrotvir territorial community. The project involves supplementing waste management infrastructure with specialised refuse collection vehicles, establishing 18 waste sorting points, and eliminating unauthorised rubbish dumps. The grant amount for the Lviv region is nearly \u20ac1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

14. <\/span><\/span>The project \u2018Cross-border biodiversity \u2013 protection of valuable natural areas in Stryshivets, Che\u0142m, Lviv and Zymna Voda\u2019, implemented by the Zymna Voda territorial community and the Working Group of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) of the parish of St. George\u2019s Archcathedral in Lviv. As part of the project, equipment will be purchased for the maintenance and conservation of the historic park in Zymna Voda, a comprehensive children\u2019s playground and an outdoor gym will be built in the park in Zymna Voda, and documentation will be developed for the historic park of the gardens of St George\u2019s Cathedral in Lviv. The grant amount for the Lviv region is almost \u20ac1.7 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

15. <\/span><\/span><\/b>The project \u2018Protection of biodiversity in the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of hogweed (Heracleum) (NoHeracleumUA&PL)\u2019, implemented by the Lviv Agrarian Chamber and Lviv National University of Natural Resources. The project involves a range of measures to eradicate hogweed. The grant amount for the Lviv region is almost \u20ac1.5 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

16. <\/span><\/span>The project \u201cDevelopment of green infrastructure in the cross-border area of the Siedlce municipality, the town of Horodok and the Pryvilne municipality\u201d, implemented by the Horodok territorial community. The project involves the revitalisation of the existing park in the town of Horodok with the aim of protecting and increasing the proportion of green spaces.
