This year, institutions and organizations that care for internally displaced persons and other socially vulnerable categories of the population will also receive humanitarian aid in the form of long-term storage food products within the WFP Institutional Nutrition Program UN.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We remind you that during 2024, 118 institutions in Lviv Oblast received 1,032 MT of food for long-term storage thanks to this Program. How necessary is this Program, what is the economic effect it brings for the institutions, whether the people who received such assistance felt an improvement in nutrition – all this is told by the representatives of the institutions – participants of the Program and the final beneficiaries.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On January 20, representatives of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber Ihor Vuytsyk, David Kravchenko and Anna Kushchak visited three institutions located in the city of Boryslav. These are the NGO “Svitle Zhytta 2022”, the communal non-profit enterprise “Central City Hospital of Boryslava” and the Children’s House “Oriana”, which received food products during 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bright Life 2022 NGO currently cares for 74 IDPs, including 10 people with disabilities. <\/span>There are group 1 disabled people who need constant care. The total number of residents is constantly changing. The organization accepts a maximum of 90 people. In the shelter there are families with pets that they brought from the occupied territories. These are cats, dogs, there was even a raccoon.

Deputy head of the organization Olha Futalash said that hot meals for all residents of the shelter became possible only thanks to humanitarian and charitable aid, since the organization itself does not have enough funds for this.

“From the received flour, our cook bakes delicious buns. We prepare 2-3 hot meals every day, and the products we receive from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber are the basis for their preparation. Local farmers help us with vegetables. The biggest problem, of course, is with meat products. From time to time, charitable organizations supply us with canned meat, but this is extremely rare,” Ms. Olga noted.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that the shelter is located in the Dzherelny Sanatorium.\u00a0 The picturesque territory of Prykarpattia, fresh air, pine forest nearby – all this creates excellent conditions for people to live. Members of the monitoring group talked with the residents of the shelter. Oleg Kovalev moved here from Mariupol with his wife and daughter in the spring of 2022. The former steelworker also finds something to do in the shelter. Helps to maintain the economy, carries out current repairs of premises, plumbing, monitors the operation of the boiler room.\n\n\n\n

“Of course, I am very sorry that I left my home, friends, colleagues and had to start life in a new place. It is a pity that our wonderful city of Mariupol was destroyed, it is a pity for the dead citizens. But here at the event I found support, understanding, sympathy. My family has good free housing, food, and that’s good, because we lost almost everything because of the war. But despite this, I really want to return home. We hope that after the end of the war, Mariupol will return and we will return home,” says Mr. Oleg.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The monitoring mission inspected the premises of the shelter, the kitchen and the warehouse, talked with the cook Natalia Vasylevich, who said that she was preparing vegetable soup and oatmeal for lunch. Ms. Natalya noted the good quality of the products she receives from the Lviv Agrarian Chamber and said that people are happy to eat the prepared meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
