On Sunday, June 14, representatives of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber attended the event “Safer Together – Children’s Day with Interreg Poland-Ukraine”. The action took place on the playground of Vincent Witos Primary School in Motych (Poland). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is organized jointly with the WaterProtect, ZeroHeracleum and WaterGardens projects. All participants, namely children of lower grades and their parents, had the opportunity to take part in educational events and thematic seminars, in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– “How to protect the environment? – we separate waste” – a practical seminar on the correct separation of waste and recycling principles; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

– “Why is water so important for everyone?” a seminar on the importance of water for health, everyday life and the functioning of the environment; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

– “Invasive plant species – what do they look like, who are they at risk of and how to avoid them?” educational activities that talk about the threats associated with the spread of invasive species;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ZeroHeracleum project was represented at the event by Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University in Lublin – Doctor of Science, Professor Anna Rysiak and Habilitation Doctor of Science Agnieszka Ganaka, as well as Andrzej Bochniak, Habilitation Doctor of Science, University Professor of Natural Sciences in Lublin. From the main partner of the project from Ukraine, the participants of the event were Ihor Vuytsyk, head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber, project manager, Anna Kushchak, project manager and David Kravchenko, procurement and communication manager. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event took place in the form of a game. The organizers made sure that the children were interested. Various competitions and master classes were held: dance, art, hairdressing. Children had the opportunity to ride two small ponies, go down inflatable slides, and see fire, medical and police vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the event, there was a demonstration of first aid, aimed at increasing knowledge and skills in responding to life-threatening situations, and a knowledge contest about the European Union, which promotes the spread of knowledge about cross-border cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Anna Rysiak and Agnieszka Ganaka conducted a practical workshop for children “Invasive plant species – what do they look like, who are they threatened and how can they be avoided?” during which they told what invasive plants are. At the stand of the ZeroHeracleum project, there were many visual examples of Sosnovsky’s borscht: live leaves of the plant, banners with its image, leaflets about the harmfulness of this plant and advice on how to avoid burns. There were also themed colored badges, clothing stickers, key chains and sweets. The children were most interested in two powerful biological binocular microscopes in which they could examine the structure of hogweed leaves and seeds. The children took turns looking into the eyepiece of the microscope and excitedly asked about what they saw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From time to time, the entertaining atmosphere of the event was disturbed by heavy summer rain, which drove the participants to large tents, where everyone tasted various sweets, sandwiches, popcorn, fragrant burgers and grilled sausages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event lasted more than five hours and ended with a foam party organized for children by firefighters with the help of two modern bright fire trucks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today we had a great opportunity to see how interesting, effective and most importantly – memorable it is to tell children about things important for their life and health. Such educational activities are no less important than practical research or works on the destruction of Sosonovsky borschivka. The educational component of our project is present in both countries – Poland and Ukraine. Polish partners have already started such events, Ukrainian partners are still preparing for them. It is important that in such events there is an active exchange of experience, partners share ideas and acquired skills. This will make it possible to organize and hold events that will be not only informative but also interesting for children and their parents,” noted Ihor Vuytsyk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
