The search for a systematic approach to ensuring food safety and preventing potential risks faced by our farmers on a daily basis, particularly during the period of martial law, prompted the Lviv Agricultural Chamber to organise and host an on-site meeting on 18 August for international auditor-consultants specialising in certification systems based on HACCP, ISO,GlobalGAP to several farms in our region, varying in size and specialising in the cultivation of crops and the production of milk, meat, artisanal cheeses and niche crops.
During the meeting with the farmers, practical issues were discussed. What will a farmer gain from obtaining a certificate? Firstly, it opens up new market access opportunities. Demand for safe products in the market is growing.
Almost all wholesale buyers, retail chains and retailers require confirmation of food safety not only through safety certificates for the product itself, but also through certificates of safe production. The introduction of such a certification system enables producers to bring their products to these sales channels, as well as to enter foreign markets without unnecessary hassle.
